You can request that a notch be made in the side of a dummy to accomodate the placement of real cake.  The typical notch is 3" wide and 2" deep cut (this can be adjusted) for the full thickness of the dummy.  If you want your notch to be like a shelf in a taller dummy consider ordering two dummies of 1/2 the desired thickness, request one be notched and then laminated together to create the full height.
